A skin blemish is any mark, growth, or discolouration that differs from the surrounding skin. Blemishes vary in size, depth, and appearance and may develop due to ageing, sun exposure, viral causes, or genetic factors.
We are pleased to offer a professional blemish removal service, delivered by a trained practitioner using safe, effective techniques tailored to your skin and specific blemish type.
A skin blemish is any mark, growth, or discolouration that differs from the surrounding skin. Blemishes vary in size, depth, and appearance and may develop due to ageing, sun exposure, viral causes, or genetic factors.
Common blemishes we assess and treat include:
Skin tags
Seborrhoeic keratoses
Cherry angiomas (blood spots)
Milia
Benign moles (subject to assessment)
Facial thread veins
Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra (DPN)
All blemishes must be assessed prior to treatment. Some lesions may require further clinical assessment by a GP or dermatologist to confirm that removal is safe and appropriate.
Blemish removal is a controlled medical procedure designed to safely remove or reduce unwanted lesions while preserving surrounding skin. Treatment is performed using shortwave diathermy (cauterisation), where targeted heat is applied to the blemish.
Depending on the lesion, the blemish may be removed immediately or disperse gradually as the skin heals. Mild discomfort may be experienced, and a numbing cream is used to improve comfort. Typical healing time is 7–14 days.
Your appointment begins with a detailed consultation followed by a mandatory patch test, which is a professional safety requirement.
During this appointment, the practitioner will:
Assess the blemish and your skin type
Review your medical history
Confirm suitability for treatment
Carry out a patch test
The patch test allows the practitioner to observe how your skin responds and heals before treatment. This helps ensure safe, predictable results and reduces the risk of adverse reactions.

A patch test and 4-week reaction period are required prior to treatment.
You’ll also be given clear information about expected results, risks, and aftercare.
If suitable, treatment is carried out conservatively to minimise tissue trauma and support optimal healing. Areas are treated gradually rather than repeatedly in one session to protect the skin and promote proper recovery. Treatment typically lasts 15–30 minutes, depending on the size and number of blemishes.
Some blemishes may require follow-up treatments to achieve the best results, particularly larger or clustered lesions.
Pricing is based on the size, number, and complexity of the blemish(es):
Tier 1 - £85

Tier 2 - £150
Tier 3 - £240
Tier 4: £360
The appropriate tier will be confirmed during your consultation before treatment.
1st treatment - £150
Follow ups - £80
For added reassurance, we offer Map My Mole, a dermatology-led digital mole assessment service where high-quality images of your mole or lesion are captured and reviewed by UK consultant dermatologists. Digital reports are usually returned within 24–48 hours, significantly faster than traditional waiting times.
Initial lesion - £70
Additional lesions - £30 each
You will receive a clear, comprehensive report outlining the expert assessment and any recommended next steps. If a lesion is considered suspicious, the report can be shared with your GP or dermatologist to help support onward referral or further clinical care.
After treatment, it is important to care for the treated area properly to support healing and reduce the risk of complications.
You should:
Keep the area clean and dry
Avoid picking, scratching, or disturbing the treated area
Limit sun exposure and use SPF where advised
Monitor the area for signs of infection or delayed healing
Most people can return to normal activities immediately. Mild redness or scabbing is common and usually settles within a few days.
Seek advice from our team or your GP if you notice:
Persistent redness, swelling, or pain
Signs of infection (pus, warmth, spreading redness)
Unusual bleeding or delayed healing beyond two weeks
Treatment may cause mild discomfort, but a numbing cream is applied to minimise pain.
Most blemishes heal within 7–14 days. Larger or more complex areas may take slightly longer.
Yes. The patch test is a professional safety requirement. It allows the practitioner to observe how your skin responds and heals before treatment, reducing the risk of unwanted reactions.
Some blemishes, such as skin tags, may recur. The treated lesion itself will not grow back.
Only benign moles assessed as safe for removal are treated. Any suspicious lesions will be referred to a GP or dermatologist, and treatment can only proceed once we have received a letter from the patient’s doctor confirming the mole or wart is safe for removal.
Most small blemishes are removed in one session. Larger or clustered lesions may require follow-up treatments.
Yes. Correct aftercare is crucial for healing, minimising scarring, and reducing the risk of infection. Your practitioner will explain the aftercare steps in detail during your consultation.
Map My Mole is a digital mole assessment service where images of your lesion are reviewed by consultant dermatologists, providing a fast, expert assessment and advice on next steps.
